CAREER SUMMARY: Lowell attended the University of Alabama and obtained her first engineering job in 1970 as a summer employee of Rust International. The following year, she began working for Hudson & Associates, a small consulting structural engineering firm, and continued to take classes at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She worked for that firm and as a consultant to other structural engineering firms until 1981. During that period, she designed parking garages, malls, medical, educational and commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. Lowell is a founding member of Christy/Cobb, Inc., which was formed in 1981. The firm initially focused on residential and commercial projects serving architectural clients. Over the years, Lowell has developed her management skills functioning as the prime design professional on many projects. While structural design of architectural projects remains a strong interest, her technical skills have expanded to include industrial facilities, municipal and special structures, renovation and historic preservation. Her clients now include owners, state and local governmental agencies, engineers and contractors as well as architects.

CAREER SUMMARY: Gray began his career with Hallmark and Bachus Engineering, later to become Bachus Engineering and Construction. In 1982 he joined Harbert Construction, a Birmingham based general contractor. At Harbert he worked as a civil/structural engineer in Harbert Construction Company’s industrial division. Project involvement included design of facilities for wastewater, geothermal power, co-generation plants and coal mining operations. Gray joined Christy/Cobb in 1989. At Christy/Cobb he has worked as a structural engineer for projects involving residential, commercial, educational and industrial construction. He has been involved in numerous design build projects consisting of deep foundation systems and excavation bracings for below-grade structures.

CAREER SUMMARY: Judy joined Christy/Cobb, Inc. as a project engineer in 1985. Since joining Christy/Cobb, Judy has completed numerous projects including industrial, water and wastewater, commercial, educational and high-end residential facilities, involving both new construction and renovation/preservation projects in each genre. Her design experience has included concrete, structural and lightgage steel, masonry, wood, pre-engineered wood products, and composite materials. In addition to providing structural design of all of the concrete structures on the Inland System Renovation Intake and Spillway Modifications, she also served as resident project engineer during the 2˝ year construction phase, giving her an understanding of the intricacies of construction. Judy’s area of special interest is concrete design, construction and repair.

CAREER SUMMARY: Cheryl joined Christy/Cobb as a structural engineer in 2004 after receiving her Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland. While seeking her degree, she interned in the structural department of Wallace, Montgomery and Associates in Baltimore and spent much of her time there performing bridge inspections. Cheryl also has over ten years professional experience as a properties artisan and furniture carpenter most recently for Center Stage, a professional theatre company in Baltimore.

While seeking his degree, he worked as an Intern with a civil/structural engineering firm located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He gained experience working as an Undergraduate Environmental Research Assistant in Champaign, Illinois through the University of Alabama.

CAREER SUMMARY: Allen specialized in commercial art for five years prior to joining D.L. Graphics, where his responsibilities included the creation of architectural renderings and models. He joined The Ritchie Organization in 1979 as Designer and Photographer and was a member of the design team for projects such as the East Wing for Baptist Medical Center Princeton, the Eye Foundation Hospital and the Harris Building. Allen joined Christy/Cobb in 1984 as a Draftsman and also serves as the company's photographer.

WebmasterCAREER SUMMARY: Michelle's experience prior to joining Christy/Cobb, Inc. included working with a computer analysis group specializing in nuclear projects for United Engineers and Contractors, Inc. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and establishing a central computer center for on-site engineers at Seabrook Nuclear Station in New Hampshire. She later joined Control Data Corporation in Boston as a Technical Applications Representative with responsibilities ranging from installation of CAD systems, on-site customer training, and continued customer support. Michelle joined Christy/Cobb in 1986 as a project engineer responsible for structural design of commercial, residential and industrial projects. She currently functions as the firm's IT Manager and is responsible for evaluating and procuring the firm's hardware and software. She is proficient in the use of the firm's administrative, cad and analytical software, and also serves as the company's webmaster.

CAREER SUMMARY: Prior to joining the firm, Gloria worked with Angeles Corporation as an Office Manager/Project Assistant in Birmingham and received her SAHMA accreditation for management of subsidized housing. Gloria joined Christy/Cobb, Inc. in 1992. Her responsibilities include accounting and financial management, processing payroll and personnel related items, maintaining all corporate insurance requirements, professional registrations and contract administration. She also provides general office management with supervisory responsibilities for administrative staff.
