design of transmitter building, vehicle storage and maintenance building, and
associated equipment foundations for the largest privately owned shortwave
facility in the United States. Also functioned as overall project coordinator
responsible for facilitating coordination and communication between the owner,
other consultants, equipment suppliers, the general contractor and major
subcontractors.

Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Scope of Service/Project Description: Responsible for the structural design of a 40,000 square foot office building. The two story composite steel framed structure houses sales, engineering and maintenance facilities. Foundation design on this project was complicated by the presence of underground fiber optic cables which provide telephone service to a large portion of the Birmingham area. Because these utilities were located directly beneath the building site, careful planning and design was necessary in order the ensure that neither the construction activities or the building foundations would adversely impact these utilities.

Recyling Facility
Location: Gary, Indiana
Scope of Service/Project Description: Responsible for the design of a scrap metal processing facility. This installation consists of a heavy mat foundation supporting a vertical shear press, a steel framed protective enclosure and a 40 foot steel observation/operations tower. At the time of the projects completion, this installation was the largest of its type in the United States.

Scope of Service/Project Description: Responsible for the design of a large reinforced concrete barn and arena. Concrete was cast with coarse aggregate, low slump, and minimal vibration to achieve an aged appearance.
